from the vault #002

This scent is actually inspired by a short trip to Kamakura.

As a girl from a tropical country, I had always been amazed by places with different seasons. Unfortunately, the Philippines only has two settings - hot and hotter. It's the land of perpetual summer (even with the occasional thunderstorms and flooding 😬).

When this scent was conceptualized, I had already been flying back and forth to Tokyo every month because I am dating someone who resided in the city (the inspo for our scent 'last minute flights'). At the time, I worked from his apartment on the weekdays and we essentially only had the weekends to fully spend the day outdoors.

After another shitty day at my toxic corporate job, I was doom scrolling on Tiktok and saw a post about going to Karuizawa for the day. We decided to go the next day and reserved seats for shinkansen ride the next morning.

I didn't realize just how cold it was going to be in Karuizawa and we were forced to buy a big pack of heat packs to place on our shoes and coats. We went to this waterfall up the mountains, and the bus ride heading there was filled with snow-covered trees and icy roads. There was a bit of a walk to get to the waterfalls, and there were a number of kids that were slipping through the slippery slopes. We took photos, made snow angels, and slowly walked back to the bus stop. While waiting for the bus, I got an apple icecream that Karuizawa was allegedly popular for - and at that moment, I couldn't help but think that life is weird.

I'm somewhere I never thought I'd be in, eating icecream in a snowy mountain, after booking last minute flights to Tokyo. It was a moment I wanted to keep in a bottle to remember. ❄️
